Five ways that can help you Boost your Internet Speed

A slow internet speed is always a mood killer. Whether you are binge-watching your weekend away or working from home, a stable and fast internet connection is important for everyone. While you may have subscribed to the fastest broadband connection from the service provider, sometimes you may still face internet speed issues. And in that case, here are a few ways in which you can troubleshoot the problem.

  • Scan for viruses

Viruses can slow down your internet speed. There is various antivirus software that you can use for scanning the viruses in your computer. You can use TotalAV, McAfee, or Norton.

  • Data caps

Another reason that leads to slow internet speed is data caps. Sometimes, internet service providers do not advertise the data caps, which can, in turn, mess with the user’s connection. Data caps allow users to use a specific amount of internet data every month. In that case, when users exceed that data limit, it can restrict their original internet speed. So, when you are taking a broadband connection, ensure that you are aware of the data caps.

  • Use an Ethernet cable

Wires still exist, and it is good to use them with your router. A wired router connection is better than a wireless one. That is because a wired router is more stable and faster and cannot be affected by any external factor. Use Ethernet cable for connecting your streaming box, desktop, or gaming console with the router. This would boost your internet speed to the maximum.

  • Block ads

Nowadays, all content providers display advertisements. Whether you are simply browsing or reading something on a website, you will come across endless ads in the form of auto-played videos, GIFs, and pictures. Now even if you like these advertisements, the internet connection does not. Advertisement slows down the internet connection. Hence, download some ad-blocking plug-ins to prevent those heavy-data advertisements from slowing down your internet.

  • Use WiFi extenders

Another great way of boosting broadband plans is by getting a WiFi extender. A WiFi extender would plug into the spare wall socket, connecting to the internet of the router, and extending it. They are easy to use and can effortlessly get rid of any dead zones. However, you also need to ensure that you are positioning the extender at the right place to get the most data speed out of it.

Wrapping Up

We all know that a slow internet speed can not only jeopardize your high-priority work but also makes it physically painful for you to struggle through the internet every day. There are various broadband plans that you can choose from, but sometimes due to various factors, you can experience slow internet. And when you use these tips, you would be able to speed up your internet without much difficulty.
